Perineoplasty / Perineorrhaphy
The perineum is the area that is between the floor of the vagina and the rectum. In many women this area has been traumatized through natural vaginal deliveries and/or episiotomies. Oftentimes the healing process and repair of these tears leads to uneven and deformed scarring of the perineum. This procedure is usually performed during a vaginoplasty but may also be performed by itself. A perineoplasty helps to repair and restore the normal appearance of the area between the floor of the vagina and the rectum. The procedure alone takes approximately 30 - 45 minutes and can be done in the office in a pain-free environment.
